| ABOUT ME | |||
|
My work in the caring profession began with 15 years as a social worker. Towards the end of this time I retrained in the field of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, and since 2000 I have been developing my work using the voice. My most recent development has been in training as PSYCH-KTM therapist. My life has been one of discovery and development, through both good times and hard times and my style of work is a reflection of this. My personal experiences include bereavement, divorce and illness: all of which enables me to have deep insight into many of life’s challenges. I firmly believe that we are able to move on and past the difficult times but that we often need help to do this. The exciting thing is that I think that PSYCH-KTM will prove to be the most powerful too I have ever used. |

I have spent time in the past as a professional
musician, working for several years as a teacher and freelance oboist. My
love of music is now channeled into my voice work which is based on the
rediscovery of my own voice and my experience of the therapeutic benefits of
this. I embrace the belief that everybody can sing, some more confidently
than others, and this confidence is usually a reflection of early life experiences. I have been
particularly influenced by Frankie
Armstrong, Kristen Linklater and Anne-Marie Blink all of whom I have worked
with over the years. Such is the power of the voice as
a therapeutic tool that I now find it influences all my work. |

In 2005 I embarked upon an exciting journey. Having believed throughout my life that I couldn't paint, (in much the same way that people believe that they cant sing) I now discover that I can! This journey began when I was invited to attend a singing and painting course and when the time came for the painting, I sat staring at a blank sheet willing myself not get up and walk out of the room. I went home at the end of the day with a picture that I was immensely proud of, so much so that I went to the local gallery and had it framed. About a year later someone visiting my house saw the picture and challenged me to do some more. With nothing to loose and guidance from friends I began to take the initial idea further and produced a series of similar pieces. In August 2006 I was lucky enough to go to one of Meriel Hoare's life drawing workshops when I was able to explore the intuitive side of drawing and painting that so closely mirrors my work with the voice. My work is developing both in sophistication and in size and as each group of paintings goes to the framer my confidence and excitement grows. |

I work at home, except when running sing groups and workshops, as these take place at a number of different venues. I live in the beautiful village of Gresham, with my husband Nick who is a professional golfer, from where we enjoy the beautiful North Norfolk countryside. |
