VOICE DEVELOPMENT

The voice is the pathway to the soul.  Whilst we use all our faculties in order to express ourselves, there is no doubt that the most powerful one is the voice.  As we grow out of infanthood we usually find it less and less easy to express our true feelings.   Reasons for this are always complex and individual to each person as they are influenced by our life experiences.  If we choose therefore to work with our voice, relearning how to use it to its fullest potential, we can develop the resources to express our emotions fully again.

When it comes to using our voices on occasions when people are really going to listen – making presentations, acting on stage, public speaking or singing – there is something inside most of us that wants to curl up and hide.  We try all we can to avoid the situation but when it does arise we get nervous, and we cannot keep control of how we want our voice to sound.

Voice work addresses this problem and helps you take control of your voice enabling you to use it with confidence and authority in what ever situation you are in.

Our voice and the fact that we use language, makes us human and the sound of each person’s voice is unique.  This is so because the sound emanates from within the body and vibrates throughout the structure of the body.   As we loose touch with who we really are our and what we really feel, our voice begins to reflect this disassociation and we reach a point where we use only a tiny part of it.  As we work to re-associate with our core self we can use sounding part of our voice to reflect our feelings, by-passing the need to use words, which are so often impotent at describing what we really feel.

I wish I could sing
Cloud Callout: I wish I could sing

A recent survey showed that the majority of people, when asked, wished they could be a singer.  There is something so special about singing, especially when it is done with intense feeling, whether on the stage or in the bath!  Singing with others is uplifting, exciting, moving, indeed almost any mood can be created.  I believe strongly that everyone can sing and should be given the opportunity to do so.

To reflect this I run four singing groups that are open to everyone.  These are held in Gresham, Cromer, Norwich and Binham.  There is no need to read music and your voice is accepted no matter how you are able to use it.  Contact me and I will  give you details.
