FESTIVAL COMMUNITY SINGING  PROJECTS

Sounds Fantastic - Holt and COAST festivals 2011

These were both a huge success, 54 participants in Holt and 32 in Overstrand.  The Holt concert was a complete sell out and the Overtrand one was the best attended event in the festival.

There is no doubt that next year I shall be talking to both festival organisers to repeat the events.

Some feedback from the participants:

Having never sung with a group I'm amazed at how much I enjoyed my Thursday evenings. The camaraderie not only within the group but Teresa's encouraging enthusiasm is inspiring and together with her humour and dedication the experience has been wonderful.  The concert was a truly uplifting evening giving me goosebumps.  Sue

My feedback about the workshops and concert is, like most peoples I'm sure, that it was a lovely experience to be part of, to be encouraged to make sound, I think Teresa is a truly brilliant teacher, enabler....  Antonia

I have always been one of those people who loves to sing along, loudly and badly, to all my favourite tracks in the car. I have never joined a group before and I found it difficult to make myself go along on that first Thursday.  From the start though I was hooked.  I loved being part of the project, singing with others and having structure to my squawks.  Thank you to all but especially to Teresa...  Fiona

I’m so pleased.  I’ve never done anything like this before, or thought I could.  I found it incredibly liberating.  I don’t feel nervous now because your voice becomes an instrument.  I wish I’d known these songs, like Tuli, when my children were little as I could have sung to them.  Stuart

Thanks, Teresa. People are still telling me that they enjoyed the concert or they heard that it had gone really well! That's bringing singing to the people! My daughter came (aged 17) and she thoroughly enjoyed it, so it's good to know that it appealed to young and old alike! I must say that it was an honour to be part of it and I shall remember it for a long time. Gill

I'd like to take this opportunity to say just how much I enjoyed the group, the camaraderie as well as the singing and you made it a joy to learn. We seemed to have so much fun, at every rehearsal there was laughter, support for each other and of course wonderful music and you made it all possible by being such a good teacher, a good sport and, it goes without saying, a talented musician. Elaine

Gemma and I want to thank you for us having such a fantastic time with you. I think all of us in the group must have been on cloud nine after the concert, with all of us saying how amazing it sounded and that is all down to you. What a skill you have in teaching, you got the balance just right and i hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Singing is something i never imagined myself doing.  Christopher

HOLT COMMUNITY CENTRE

SOUNDS FANTASTIC

Come and join a group of people to learn some songs over a 6 week period which will culminate in a concert at the Queen’s Jubilee weekend.  If you only ever sing in the shower or the car then this is just the thing for you.  You will see from the feedback to last years projects that everyone is accepted and every one has a great time.

The taster session will be on Wednesday morning 28th March at 11am til 1pm.  This is free for you to just come and try it out.  Thereafter the rehearsals will start the following week, but there will be a three week gap over Easter.  You will have audio clips to learn your parts from as you do the washing up or drive around in your car. This is a great way of learning!

The venue is the

Community Centre, Kerridge Way, Holt NR25 6DN

01263 713427.

The places will be limited to 50 so please do express your interest to Freda at the Community Centre if you want to definitely book a place.
